Do You Recognize Me? (Giving Voices To Jane Does)
GraceP for Mecklenburg Jane Doe
Though not necessarily required, we would like to offer an opportunity for a Hispanic or biracial woman to contribute their voice to the Mecklenburg Doe (due to her estimated biological profile).
- Due the seriousness of this case, we would like for you to read this in your natural voice/tone/dialect.
- Please remember that the purpose of this project is to humanize the Jane Does and bring these unidentified women to life through voice acting; they are not just "characters."
[Read all of these lines as if you're having a natural conversation with someone, but at the same time you're informing them. Don't add too much emotion, but just enough to drive the point home that this is an unsolved case.]
I am the Mecklenburg County Jane Doe.
On March 17, 2011, my partial remains were discovered in a wooded area off of Statesville Road in Charlotte, North Carolina.
They estimated my weight as 110 pounds.
I had been wearing navy-colored boat shoes with a plaid pattern. Near my body was a black bra, a pair of blue jeans, and a white t-shirt that said, "Virginia Beach, Virginia."
Investigators are treating my death as a homicide.
It's believed that I was Caucasian or Hispanic. Some have speculated that I was biracial.
