Mercedes is one of the Maple Alliance heroes, queen of the Elves in the Elluel village and a bow wielder.
After sealing the Black Mage away along with the heroes, she was frozen by the Black Mage's curse when she tried to protect her village. Sealing the village of the elves, Elluel, Mercedes and her people fell into a deep sleep for hundreds of years. Mercedes awakens to find her previous power gone, and begins training to regain her strength. In Heroes of Maple, she meets up with her subjects, finding ways to release the elf children from the frozen curse. Even though she still had regrets about the decision she made a century ago, she decided to join in the upcoming battle.
Cult of Personality: Being a queen, Mercedes has a commanding, assertive demeanour. If anything stands in her way, she would be willing to put an arrow in your face if they didn’t cooperate. Mercedes is also responsible and caring, particularly when breaking up Phantom and Luminous who get into fights often in the saga. She has her share of flustered moments, like at the party in act 3 where she was forced to interact with esteemed members. She isn’t easily impressed and needs her respect to be earned, particularly from Evan on their first meeting as he bears the burden of being the successor of the great Freud. But when her respect is earned, Mercedes will be a compassionate and supportive friend. Mercedes is also courageous and heroic that rivals Aran and Evan, possibly superseding theirs. She never hides from danger and won’t hesitate to defend her people from getting kidnapped. She is also a fish out of water somewhat, she had the hardest time dealing with the changes to Maple World, exacerbated by Elluel's seclusion compared to the rest of the world while she was sealed away by the Black Mage’s curse.
I want to make something clear before we proceed. Just because Freud was our leader doesn't automatically mean you are now. I don't take orders from you! Especially when dumb riddles are concerned. … You're sort of humble... just like Freud. I guess you really are his successor. Sorry... I think I'm just angry that I won't see him again. Forget what I said before. I'm looking forward to working with you.
I was a bit sceptical about this plan, but it looks like we managed to pull it off together. Evan, good work keeping a cool head and providing instructions.
