His blue eyes, amber hair, gleaming white teeth, and graceful physique made an impression on those who met him. One day, while vacationing at the Old Orchard Beach in Maine, Joe met a beautiful young woman named Rose Fitzgerald. Rose was an unusually smart girl who was the youngest ever to graduate from her high school. Her father, John “Honey” Fitzgerald, was an esteemed politician. On a peaceful October day in 1914, Joe and Rose were married. The reception was small, but it was followed by romantic honeymoon ventures in Philadelphia and West Virginia; riding, playing tennis, and golfing”.
