Arkarium, also known as the Guardian of Time, is one of the commanders of the Black Mage, and is said to be his right-hand man.
He was once a monk serving Rhinne, goddess of the time temple, but he betrays her after realizing the Black Mage’s; deciding following her would be pointless. After Arkarium helps seal Rhinne on the Black Mage’s orders, his master gives the credit to Demon; commander and brother of Damien. Arkarium unsurprisingly became envious and bitter towards Demon, having remained loyal to the Black Mage for most of his life and having sacrificed much in his life to serve him.
Seeking retribution: he uses the hidden demonic powers inside Damien to take everything Demon has ever loved. To recruit Damien under his wing, Arkarium tells Damien he killed his own mother, and she can be revived if he does what he says. Damien agrees and becomes a commander overseen by Arkarium.
In Heroes of Maple, Arkarium oversees Damien, who has been tasked with subduing the World Tree. He suspects Damien is planning to betray the Black Mage. Arkarium threatens Damien, telling him his mother is alive and has been keeping her frozen in time, and will kill her if he doesn’t follow the Black Mage’s orders.
Believing he has control of the situation, Arkarium states to himself he will enjoy the look on Damien’s face when he uncovers his betrayal and finally gets the credit he feels he deserves from the Black Mage… Or so he thinks!
Personality: Arkarium is a cold, conceited wizard, showing no care or sympathy for anyone but himself. Seeing Demon take all the credit for sealing the goddess Rhinne, he feels hollow and unimportant. Arkarium is an intelligent and scheming wizard, planting a time freezing spell on Damien when he took him in, not to mention tricking him several times. He has shown great patience, putting up with Damien’s arrogance and disloyalty under his wing. Despite his bitterness, he takes enjoyment in revealing the truth to Damien about what happened the night his mother died.
You still haven't learned your place. After all these years, I think it's about time you learned some manners.
That arrogant whelp! He seemed as though he might be of use, so I kept him alive. Now he threatens ME!? … I should have never raised the wolf cub. Yes, rabid animals must be put down. I just have to wait until the world tree has been addressed. Oh, I will savour the look on his face when he learns the truth...ahaha. AHAHAHA!
