Ling is a subordinate of Li and Shu's older brother.
He has a sense of superiority and comes across as stuck up. He respects those who treat him in kind, but has little time for people lacking in manners.
His experiences as a soldier has made him regretful of his actions, making him one of the few officers who try not to kill their opponant. This is related to killing the brother of Jet, who holds a vendetta against him.
His development ties into Jet's revenge plot; it's less about him growing, and more about learning about him.
