A doctor who currently works for St. Aberdeen Hospital, he used to be a family physician in the prairie town of Shawnee, Kansas. A man with little material interests, he works hard to make life easy for his wife Adelaide and daughter Ginnifer, and doesn’t concern himself with doohickeys like “toasters” or “dishwashers.”
“Can’t stay too long; head surgeon Whitmore wants me to be there today at the operating room at eight to prep for a pregnant patient.”
“A toaster? We don’t need a toaster. We have an oven. It serves us just fine.”
“Adelaide, darlin’, what’s gotten into you? We used to be content with our modest cottage, and the instant we move to Pepperton, you go off spoutin’ this material nonsense! You’ve changed.”
