Guan Yu, styled Yunchang (Pronounced Gw-on You, Yun-Ch-ah-ng)
Guan Yu, the God Of War as he is known today, was a warrior in service of Liu Bei. In the Three Kingdoms novel, he was the second sworn brother. Liu Bei being the first, and Zhang Fei being the third.
Guan Yu was strong, and most certainly one of the most capable fighters of the realm. However, he didn't share the military cunning of most other generals including Zhang Fei. Regardless, Guan Yu was personally a masterful archer and wielded his glaive like it was his life. Facing him one on one was a ticket to the afterlife.
He begins the story rather humble, soft spoken, speaking when he needed to. But as each year went by and praises flodded his ears of his personal skill, Guan Yu slowly began to inflate his ego, later becoming arrogant and stuffshirted.
I'd imagine his voice would normally stay at an inside volume, if he spoke at all during the beginning of his journey. But when he needed to, or if the wrong button was pushed, he wouldn't hesistate to raise his voice or see to it that the troubles were ended quickly.
I expect everyone of you to act with dignity and honor. All of China watches what we will do this day.
Zhang Fei, sit. We will speak later.

I am happy to hear you gave it a try. I wish Casting Call Club allowed it to be accent 'suggestions', rather than a requirements. So in other words, it is perfectly okay that you don't have an American accent. You did great with the voice as well. I personally believe your voice is far more suited for a guy like Guan Yu rather than maybe Liu Bei, but that is a compliment in every regard!
