This is Ronnie's dream. He didn't have a mother figure in the waking world so when he crossed over she was created from what he imagined a mother would be like.
Mary is very protective of Ronnie and can sometimes come off as harsh and serious. She's very caring though and helps Eloise in any way she can.
Ronnie, how many times must I tell you? Don't go to the beach without your jacket!
