He trained directly under Beth’s father in the Vault, and is highly skilled in both human intelligence and signal intelligence.
CHARLES: Good morning, Elizabeth!
BETH: Good morning, Charles!
CHARLES: You’re awfully cheerful this morning.
BETH: What? I’m always delightful in the morning.
CHARLES: Mmm hmm.
BETH: How’s my dad?
CHARLES: Bored.
BETH: Mom isn’t keeping him busy?
CHARLES: She’s still tied up with that Foundation mess.
BETH: “Mess” is a little strong.
CHARLES: Have you met Ward?
BETH: Point taken. I’ll go see him today. I have something he may be able to help me with.
CHARLES: He’d love that.
BETH: I know. And I really could use his help. I hit a dead end, and right now my only lead is sitting at Fort Atlas being decrypted.
CHARLES: You let the Brotherhood take the equipment and the data?
BETH: That’s the thing. There was no equipment. Somebody got there before us. From the looks of things, before I even found out about it.
CHARLES: Do you think it was the Morningstar?
BETH: That’s the most likely suspect at this point, but it’s not a certainty. There are so many new people wandering around Atlas, and any one of them could be operating undercover for the Morningstar, the Raiders... hell, even Foundation.
CHARLES: Foundation? They don’t strike me as the cloak-and-dagger type.
BETH: Have you met Ward?
CHARLES laughs.
CHARLES: Point taken. You could always tag along with your mother and see if there are any shiny new brain scanners sitting around.
