Background: A prominent player in the Strange Paradise universe, Jean Paul began his journey with his wife (now pregnant) at their home on the island of Maljardin. However, tragedy struck and he lost his wife and their child. Grief-stricken, he decides to use all of his wealth and influence to have her cryogenically frozen until the time comes to free her from death's grip. The evil Jacques Eloi Des Mondes (an ancestor who lived 300 years before) begins communicating with Jean and convinces him that he's the only one who can help him save his wife. Jean agrees much to Raxl's dismay. Jacques is allowed to possess Jean from time to time and his wife eventually does return to the island - but now is not the kind, caring person he remembers. Fast-forward to my continuation and Jean Paul is all set to marry his new fiancé, Emily Blair, but will a ghost from his past return and ruin the day?
(recounting) I wouldn’t have believed it myself. She passed herself off as a loyal servant to my family for many, many years. It’s a difficult thing to accept but now everything makes sense. The only thing I can’t understand is her deception about Erica.
(recounting) Raxl must have had it all planned. After my Erica departed from this world, I was not quite myself and decided to try and reverse her state of death by keeping her frozen. I thought I could bring her back to life, but Jacques Eloi Des Mondes interfered and poisoned her spirit. When she was finally back in my arms, she was not the woman I married but a vile, evil creature bent on murder! Raxl - Raxl had to have known this, but played her role of a loyal servant so well.
