Billy Lee Black, originally known as Billy Lee Blanche, is a playable character in Xenogears. He is introduced as a young, pacifistic priest of the Ethos, who runs his own unaffiliated orphanage in the Aquvy region. As an Etone, Billy is charged to protect the world from the Wels.
Billy has a strained relationship with his father Jesiah, but puts up with him for the sake of his little sister, Primera.
Becoming an official Etone (think preacher), Billy opened an orphanage at his childhood home, welcoming in orphans from all over the world. As it was unaffiliated with the Ethos Church, the orphanage was funded by Billy's own meager wages. The orphans in his care liked to play hide-and-seek with Billy, and were a great support for his missions, as they could send the Renmazuo Gear immediately at Billy's signal.
"Surprised there are only children? My sister and I haven't had parents since we were infants... So, I opened an orphanage. So kids without anyone wouldn't have to go through what we did. They're all healthy and obedient to the teachings of the 'Ethos'. They're all good kids who even help me with work."
