Kaito is a rivial to Ethan (one of the main characters) and is a very skilled swordsman, his team has been killed at this point so he is taking on the remaining challenges solo, he doesn't like people so that suits him just fine, he's quite confident in his abilities but it's not unwarrented as his strength is very impressive, only matched by his arrogance
