Donkey Kong Meets Phoenix Wright: Legend of the Crystal Turnabout
PoisonousApple for Maya Fey (Singing)
Some Notes:
- Just a reminder: you can apply to be the singing voice of a character without necessarily applying to be their speaking voice, or vice versa. Just let me know in your audition email.
- I have included instrumental versions of the songs for you to sing along with, but please do not record your voice over the instrumental track. I need to be able to hear your voice by itself while considering who to choose.
- You do not have to record multiple takes of the songs unless you want to. For the most part, you can just hit me with your best take!
"Pursuing The True Japes"
[To the Tune of " Pursuing My True Self " from Persona 4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RjizCnqeJTY. Instrumental version here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pcpm3mowZkc. Let me if you need help on how the lyrics should be said and I'll try to accomodate]
[I have recorded a sample of what the song should roughly sound like, which I have uploaded to Google Drive for demonstration.https://drive.google.com/file/d/1pKUsjIjRUuuDFblmVIiXhSgTvzNBZp6v/view?usp=sharing]
**Note: Clearly I have a male voice and this song is for a female character, so this is only to really showcase the basic rhythm and how the words would be spoken, ideally Maya would sing the song in her own voice**MAYA:
We are swinging on vines
We’ll finish this investigation
Come on, the chase is afoot
Don't you know, Nick, that we have a trial to win?
Searchin’ high and low, on what little that we know
But regardless, hey, we’ll see the truth
Combing combing combing
Following the Crystal Coconut’s trajectory
Learning learning learning
Until we find the crook’s identity
Let us find a clue, chase it down the trail
Make sure that this mystery’s unfurled
Monkeying around won’t help us save DK
He’s locked up for this crime
While we’re here on this island with apes and chimps
We’ll find out what’s false and what’s true
I swim in the sea of the bananas
We’ll search the jungle, pursuing the true japes

Hello! I appreciate the audition, it is a very dynamic song to sing, so I can appreciate the work that goes into pulling it off. However, the music is not synced up to your vocals in this recording. I know audacity tends to offset recorded sounds by about 0.1 second which usually requires manually fixing, which isn't a problem in actual production work. However for the purpose of auditioning, I would like to hear your voice without the music interfering. Would you be able to try again, but when you finish recording your vocals, delete/remove the instrumental?
