Joshua Graham was Caesar's second-in-command and co-founder of Caesar's Legion. He is 56 years old at the time of this scene. He started life as a young Mormon missionary. After helping Caesar create his legion, his religious values deteriorated, and he became the monster known as the Malpais Legate, a menacing and brutal second-in-command. Though not as tactical or brilliant as Caesar, he was confident in his abilities as a commander. This, ultimately, led to his downfall. Overconfident, he led his army into a trap, and suffered a humiliating defeat at the hands of the NCR. Ashamed, he returned to Caesar defeated, who had him set on fire and thrown into the Grand Canyon for his failure. Joshua Graham was played by Keith Szarabajka. This role will be 225 words for this trailer.

  • [This is a quote from the bible. Joshua is lecturing Caesar about his delusions of grandeur. However, he is careful to not make things worse, since he knows Caesar intends to kill him.]

"Pride go-eth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall."

  • [While Joshua is admitting his part in the failure, he refuses to see this failure as his alone. He calls Caesar "Edward" (his true name), as an attempt to remind him he is still just a man, and not a god. He knows what he is saying will not convince Caesar to change his mind, but he wants him to know that he refuses to cower to him. Even if Caesar kills him now, it will not erase Caesar's role in the failed attack on Hoover Damn.]

"Regardless of my contribution, this is also your failure Edward. You cannot deny this. If only your hubris would allow you to see it. That’s your weakness Edward, your delusion. You’re a child playing God. For an educated man, you’re as self-aware as the savages you rule over."

  • [This is during a flashback. Joshua is 25 years old in this scene. He found his friend Edward alone, away from the village, staring off in solemn contemplation. It appears Edward is questioning his purpose. Joshua tells him this as both a mentor, and a friend. Please adjust your delivery to fit the younger age.]

"I think we all have a purpose in the eyes of the lord, but it is up to us to fulfill it… I have no doubt that, in time, you’ll fulfill your purpose."
