New York City is a beautiful city an hour before daybreak. It’s the quiet hour when the city that never sleeps has shut its eyes for a fleeting moment. The carts of roasted nuts are missing from the sidewalks of Midtown. The hiss of hot air from the subway grates subsides to a mere whisper of heat from below the streets.
