Cranky Kong is elderly and his voice is raspy, scratchy, and very harsh. Almost like he's gargling. Please don't hurt your throat if you are going for this role!
He tends to be snarky, and gets angry very easily. Despite how Cranky he is, he's still generally pleasant to most people, and he treats the humans as well as his fellow Kongs with respect… usually.
He is wise and confident from his years of experience. He knows he's the most seasoned Kong on the island so he recognizes that other Kongs defer to his knowledge and judgment. Even when wrong about something (Like when he mistakenly thinks he "witnessed" the crime) he still speaks and acts as if he is sure of himself.
Here are some general lines:
"I'm impressed. That was good judgement."
"We can talk all you want, it won't change anything."
"You youngsters be safe out there, ya hear?"
"Hold up, now, youngsters. Walk a little slower, will ya? Don't leave ol' Cranky behind!"
Here are some lines that feature Cranky more upset:
"It doesn't mean squat! Nada! Zilch! Bupkis! You'll only be in charge once the time is right. Face it, Donkey Kong! You aren't ready for the responsibility yet!"
"He said he needs help from the WISEST one on Kongo Bongo, you nitwit. There are only two 'Wise' people on this island. One of 'em's me, and unless your name's David and you compose the music, the other one's NOT YOU."
"AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!"
"The Crystal Coconut!! You smashed it! DOOOOOONKEEEEEY KOOOOOOOOOONG!!!!!!"
Considering how difficult it is to pull off a good Cranky voice, consider me impressed! You really got the feel for how he speaks, and I think the part where you yell DONKEY KOOOONG was spot on. Just to be honest, mic quality is a bit of a concern. I tried to mess around with the raw audio to see what I could do to try and improve it, and I do think that this is *probably* workable for me from an editing standpoint. If it's not too much to ask though, I'm curious what your mic equipment/situation is? You clearly have the acting chops to do extremely well as a voice actor, so I feel like a good quality microphone would do really well for you (if you have one available, or the budget for one)
Thanks so much for the compliments and i can probably deal with the audio quality easily. the mic i use right now is a zekpro mic which was literally $11 so i can definitely get an upgrade soon. once again you can use discord to contact me or this site to find another way. i once again hope i can fill the shows of cranky in this project!
Glad to hear the mic situation might improve soon, since audio quality is pretty much the only thing keeping me from deciding on Cranky immediately. His is a pretty tricky voice to do well, and you really nailed it. Let me know how things are going on that side of things, and hopefully I'll be able to cast you for Cranky in the coming days/weeks!
