Arrrh! Kaptain Skurvy has the kind o' voice every good pirate deserves! He's loud, he's bombastic, and you can't help but love his cartoon-y antics.
Please note that Skurvy yells quite a lot, so please keep that in mind when considering your mic settings to avoid clipping the audio and such.
He is one of the first characters to start to hint at the overall idea that the characters should really grow out of the same rivalries, tropes, and conflicts that they've been stuck in for decades. He has grown rather insightful over the years, and the implication is strong that he's a lot smarter and more thoughtful than you'd expect based on how he acts. He shows that he can really be a genuinely nice person, despite being wrapped up in an antagonistic role.
All of Skurvy's lines are in a pirate accent
"Aye. How rude of me. I'm Kaptain Skurvy, the meanest, rudest scourge to ever sail the seven seas! Nice ta meet ya, lass."
"YAR! That be WAY too many 'greats!' It was me great-great grandpappy! And that Crystal Coconut be MINE! It's a family heirloom! Me great-great grandpappy--may he choke on Satan's bathwater--hid the prize within the eye of Inka Dinka Doo!"
Skurvy has quite a few emphatic lines with laughing or yelling:
"Bwarharhar! Matey, I be a pirate! What laws HAVEN'T I broken!"
"WHAAAAAT???!!! WHEN?! HOW?!! THAT WAS ME GREAT GREAT GRANDPAPPY'S!!!"
Skurvy also has a handful of monologues across the story:
"Aye. N' before ya go… I have somethin' ta tell ye. Ya seem like swell folks. I wanted ta apologize fer whatever trouble I may be causin' ya, especially on yer vacation. Mateys, I only wanted ta fix me mirror."
"Arrh… don'tcha ever think we should move on from all'a this? From the Crystal Coconut, I mean, arrh. We been feudin' over it fer so long I can't even remember when it all started. Are we really gonna let that shiny rock hold power o'er us ferever? Somethin' in me gut just tells me it may be time ta leave it in the past."
As I've stated before, I'm over all very impressed with all of your auditions. Your pirate accent is spot on, too, to be honest. I also wish to honor your request to not do any singing. Just had a question though: would you be willing to do a spoken-word version of Skurvy's singing audition? As in, kind of like poety, where the words would be spoken in a rhythm, but not necessarily sung or held at specific notes musically. The reason I ask is: for Skurvy in particular, I'm realizing his musical number has a lot of moments where he goes back and forth between just singing and speaking. Now that I'm seeing that in hindsight, I'm worried it might be kind of awkward to hear two voices going back and forth so close together I can't find a singer who can do a singing voice that's a close imitation of your speaking voice. I should state that whether or not you decide to pitch an audition for the Skurvy Singing role will have no bearing on your chances at the speaking role, so there's no pressure. But if you are up to giving the spoken-word a shot for Skurvy's musical, let me know, or drop another audition if you are inclined. Thanks again for putting forth so many quality auditions.
I wouldn't mind giving it a shot! I'll go ahead and submit a singing audition for Kaptain Skurvy when I get the chance, and you can see what you think then. The source music seems really fun, so we'll see how it goes!
