RECAST
You are the narrator. You read literally everything in this story that isn't in quotations or otherwise stated by me. You cannot be silly or otherwise not serious, for it is your job to communicate to the viewer/reader the situation occurring, the characteristics of one person, the scenery, etc etc.
I would prefer a deeper than mid but not too deep voice to do this, like when people narrated stories such as The Most Dangerous Game in ways to evoke drama and suspense. Be like that.
To summarize, you must be able to convey drama and suspense in every thing you say in this story. Even when there doesn't seem to be anything dramatic going on, your voice will keep the reader interested because sometime could very well happen at any moment. That is your job.
I'm the Narrator. My job, simply put, is to speak everything not in quotes. It is my job to tell you what happens, and put the characters referenced through both horrible and happy experiences. I will be with you every step of the way through this story of both hope and tragedy, sadness and happiness, hate and love...
