The Chronicles of Pyria: Child of Fire, Audiobook(First Wave)
olavoe for Commander Ike Borel
If the monarchy of Aldon was decided by qualification, Ike Borel would be King. He is much more stalwart, sane, and tactile than his older brother Henry, and so he was given the position of Aldon's military commander. He is more of a direct foil for Husky, as he continues trying new things to defeat the Child of Fire throughout the story. Loyalty is his bottom line. He will die for his big brother's cause, even if he knows Henry is in the wrong...
“Oh nonsense Henry, I’m sure Sam exaggerated his story.”
(The logical, military man that he is, Ike is quick to dismiss the nonsensical ramblings of shaken soldiers. He is assuring Henry has nothing to worry about when it comes to the Child of Fire)
“Do not shout at your commander! I could have your head for that. Remember your place, Captain. I’m not ignoring anything, but you’ve clearly let your trauma cloud your memory. This was no magical child, this was the wind. If you must know, he has been spotted fighting alongside Prince Tygru against our forces in Makal.”
(Ike is addressing Captain Sam, the sole survivor of Husky's initial, fiery outburst. Once again, he is dismissive of the boy's abilities. He is attempting to rationalize it with science, and get Henry's forces back on track)
“New Lord of Duccan? You gave him a title? Are you mad?”
(Like everyone else, Ike HATES Endris. Henry has recently rewarded the elf with an office and a city. Ike does not approve, and he is beginning to realize that Henry is making irrational decisions as he unravels from the pressure and desperation)
