“while frail in appearance, Maria was strong in spirit. Eternally cheerful, optimistic and positive despite her condition, Maria could see the good in almost anyone or anything. She was likewise a very kind, caring and thoughtful soul who always put others before herself, supported her friends, and held an unconditional love for the people of the world, even showing compassion towards her enemies when they were distressed. Because she never got down to Earth, Maria was very interested in the planet and wished to see it. She was as well very encouraging as she could make others accept themselves and calm others down when in stressful situations, including Shadow.
Always gentle and thinking about others before herself, Maria was one who found it easier than most to forgive and forget, not to mention trust. Even after GUN violently raided the ARK and shot her down, Maria did not hold any ill will against the people on earth and only wished for them to live happy lives. She was also utterly selfless as she sacrificed her life for Shadow's sake, having faith he would carry on her dreams for her.”

Maria Robotnik was diagnosed with a terminal illness at a young age. Lived aboard the ARK, a Space Colony, Built by her great uncle, most of her life. Because of this, her great uncle, Gerald Robotnik, a super scientist, attempted to create the ultimate life form to possibly cure her. This eventually succeeded, creating a hedgehog named Shadow, who grew to become great friends with Maria, before she was killed by a government branch, who were raiding the ARK because of numerous secret and illegal projects Gerald created. Shadow was then sealed away in a secret government facility after this event for 50 years.
Vocally I don't have a preference for how Maria sounds, as long as she sounds like a little girl.

"[Amy is pacing back and forth outside the RF.]
Amy: Ooh, I hate it when they leave me behind! *notices Shadow inside* Look! It's Shadow! *pauses* I've really gotta stop whining. Everyone's trying their best to help out, and so must I! *runs to him* Shadow, we need you! Please help us!
Shadow: It's all going according to plan. There's no reason for me to help them. Besides, there's no way to save anyone.
Amy: There has to be! I know that people fight over the most trivial things. Some people may be selfish, like the professor said... but they're basically good, if they try their best and never give up on their wishes. They always have a reason to be happy; that's why you should help them out! Saving them is a good thing! Shadow, I beg you, please do it for them! Give them a chance!
["Throw It All Away" plays as Shadow has a flashback of Maria, right before her death.]
Maria: Shadow... I beg of you... please, do it for me... for a better future...
Shadow: Maria!
Maria: for all the people who live on that planet... give them a chance to be happy. Let them live for their dreams. Shadow, I know you can do it. That's the reason that you were brought into this world. Sayonara, Shadow, the Hedgehog.
Shadow: That's what I've promised her... I must keep that promise... That's what Maria wished for...
[A tear drips down Shadow's face.]"
