Kota's grandma always believed in him and told him that he can do anything. She once bought him a big plushie of Pom Pom Purin when he was a child. It was his favorite toy and he took him anywhere. But as he started to grow older, other boys started to laugh at him. They thought that having a Sanrio toy is too girly, so they began to bully Kota. After the boys left when Kota threw Pom Pom Purin at them, his grandma comes and notices that the plushie's ear is ripped. She wants to repair Pom Pom Purin for him, but Kota is embarrassed by the so-called girly toy and yells that he hates both the toy and his grandma. After this incident, he didn't dare to face his grandma again. Time passed and Kota gets the plushie back when his grandma died while being full of regret.
