Oliver and Company 2 - Recast
Nala Bea Pearl for Rita
Originally voiced by Sheryl Lee Ralph (and Ruth Pointer for her singing voice), Rita is a kind and tough Saluki who lives in Manhattan. She's the most level headed one of the gang and often has to be the lone voice of reason who keeps them all in check. Of all the characters she's the most emotionally mature and can quickly pick up on other's feelings. There are an estimated 20 lines for this role plus sound effects where the script calls for them. Rita is involved in two of the movie's musical numbers so you must be comfortable singing for this role.
It's important this role is continued to be played by a Black Actress.
