Quiet, though, and careful.
His grand stature is the first thing people notice about him and that's usually enough for most to walk the other direction. But he's a gentle giant who likes reading and is quite intelligent which is contrary to what people believe at first sight. He's reserved and usually doesn't talk too much.
As a soldier, he did well, very well, but after his first proper deployment, he fled. He was drafted by the kingdom, and at first, he found the work he did tolerable. He quickly showed promise during battle training and was promoted and sent on a proper deployment. What he did there haunts as he flees across the Kingdom.
A hard upbringing has taught him to be careful around people and this has left him with a manner that's more reserved and many would consider him stoic or even rude.
Tone & accent:
A deep and full voice. Very powerful and steady. Maybe a slight Welsh or maybe even cockney. But only slight, not extremely prominent.

[Normal] Well, I'm just a traveller passing by, not much to it; the wrong man at the wrong place at the wrong time. If you think I'm some saviour, I'm sorry to disappoint.
[Bitter, telling about his experience as a soilder] For the most part, soldiers are nothing more than glorified thugs. Those in power know that to keep some regiments satisfied they will have to let them pretend like they are above ordinary people and turn a blind eye to allow them to terrorise smaller settlements and villages; as long as it's far enough away from them.
[Disdain] I wouldn't put it past these bastards to declare war on their own people if they thought it would profit them. [Sarcastic] Luckily for us, they need us to maintain both their jugs of wine and their society. Without the many, the powerful would have to make their own food and clean their own shit... and that would be unacceptable.
[Worried, anxious, gentle but still firm] Come on' girl, we need to leave... now. It's too late for them, but not for you.
[Screaming, waking up from a bad dream] Ahhhhh!!!
*Panting*
[Slightly shaky voice] I'm fine... It was nothing. Just a bad dream. [Slightly defensive] Yes, yes... I'm fine.
Say something you think would fit the character (or just anything if you can come up with anything) and show some more emotions.
Also, add some non-vocal sounds like grunts, screams, and such for pain, fear, and when doing something very strenuous.
