arietta for Jun Naruse (pronounced ‘Joon Na-roo-say’)
Role: Main protagonist
Sings?: Yes – singer should ideally be the same as the voice actress (SEE BELOW FOR SINGING AUDITION)
Age: Must be able to voice both young girl and mid-teens
Bio: Cursed at a young age, Jun has spent most of her life silent and alone. When randomly selected to be part of the committee, she makes new friends and finds a newfound love for music. Jun cares deeply about the feelings of others, and often has difficulty keeping her strong emotions inside, despite the pain it causes her to speak. While she speaks infrequently, she appears in 95% of the scenes in this movie, often with gasps, grunts, etc. She also often provides voice-over monologues
Voice: Medium-high voiced female, alto to mezzo-soprano singing range. You must be able to do a high-pitched child’s voice as well, for flashbacks to Jun as a child. Sweet, nervous and quiet in disposition, Jun is a very talented singer and can get quite passionate when she is upset. The VA will be expected to cry, shout and emote.
