AaronAndersonVA for Vicar
Vicar
Intelligent, pondering, and scatterbrained.
Vicar was given away by an early age to the academy when he showed promise as a scholar. He was taught how to read and write as well as... other things. As he rose through the academy's ranks people started noticing him, higher up people. But his inquisitive manner wasn't very welcomed and something happened during his time at the academy and he fell back down to become a simple bookkeeper.
After years of being a bookkeeper, he fled.
Whatever happened at the academy left its scars and he can sometimes be a mumbling mess. He's never been the most well-spoken person but on bad days he can barely speak at all, leaving him to not speak very often and can be seen as shy. On the other hand, he's seen as eccentric when he gets going and especially when he talks about something that interests him. His life evolving around books for the better part of his youth and early adulthood has left him with less than great social skills.
Tone & accent:
He's in his late 20s or early 30s I would and I have no real idea for his voice.
Examples of voices I like (Not the greatest for this character, just general voices I like):
Bighat Logan (Dark Souls I)

Cale the Cartographer (Dark Souls II)

[Normal] It's actually true; we are moving north judging from the stars, and Halvik should be just beyond that mountain. If we hurry, we could make it before nightfall.
[Amazement] Remarkable... Really, something like this has to be hundreds -- if not thousands -- of years old. A long lost civilization.
[Confused and mumbling, trying to get his whirling thoughts togather] I... No... It's... I'm sure I know this. *Sight* I have read about this and I know something about it, just can figure out what. [Exasperation] Ahh! [Despondent and saddened] Forget it... Damn it all to hell.
Say something you think would fit the character (or just anything if you can come up with anything) and show some more emotions.
Also, add some non-vocal sounds like grunts, screams, and such for pain, fear, and when doing something very strenuous.
Thanks for auditioning!
A quick summary of my thoughts: Quality is a bit worse in this one; more background rustle and a few standing resonant peaks (I think) that resonate more with this higher-pitched voice and those might be a bit harder to eq out. Are you using a dedicated treated recording space? The acting is good and the delivery is pretty alright as well. There are a few things I would like to change and I think those changes would be no problem for you. At the moment he sounds a bit too “squeaky” and “fragile”. I might ask for another take a later date when I’m casting the characters to see if we can get it more in line with what I have in my mind. The ending was great improv, really like it.
thanks for the feedback! I was in a hotel room for this audition ngl, but back home I have a room that is much better for eliminating echoes and such. As for the peaks, I may have just been recording too hot, so I will check to see if I can get those under control from my end. Again, thanks for your input!
