Maleficent is a cunning witch whose ultimate goal is control of Kingdom Hearts, the heart of all worlds. She isn't above manipulation, as she does this to Riku for her goals, taking advantage of his jealousy.
"The Keyblade has chosen him. Will it be he who controls the darkness, or will the darkness swallow him? Either way, he could be quite useful."
"Ahh... the truth can be most cruel, even amongst the closest of friends. After all, one never knows the secrets of another's heart. I'm sure you'll agree..."
"You dare to challenge me? Pitiful fools! I am the mistress of all evil, see for yourself - the powers of Hell!"
