Hate the world? Then this role will be a breeze. Shanelle is the logical realist constantly pushed to the brink by the madness around her, usually resulting either in aggression or fatalism. "Why me?" is a great thought to keep in mind when voicing Shanelle. Your only job is to determine when she 's had enough, hit rock bottom, is being ironic or genuine. And, in non-comical situations, she always defaults back to the role of leader.

Poor, poor Shanelle. For if there was ever a perfectly normal person on this show, it would be Shanelle Spencer, and, by god, that is not a position to wish upon your worst enemy.

Shanelle is the study-body president and leader of the teen club. That is, in any time of chaos, Shanelle is noticeably in charge and directing the others to safety with a steady hand. However, as a realist, this means she faces the brunt of the jokes, that she acts as the set-up to the punchline, and frequently becomes cynical over the world that refuses to recognise itself as insane.

Shanelle picks up screen time effortlessly after episode four, much like Larke, and maintains her presence throughout the series whole. Though, she never seems to get a window into who she is emotionally. Rather, that she is closed off and unemotive appears to be her character. While Blaze could be a leader of people’s feelings, Shanelle is a leader of logic. Troy refers to her as “the strongest friend.”
