~Rise From The Ashes - Arc I ~ : Staff and Lead VAs (CLOSED)
Birbddha for Dr Voss
Summary: Viktor Voss is a true man of science, dedicated to his work and considered a fine physician to his patients. A man of thirty-eight years, he emigrated to America from Germany just under a decade ago to take his practise to North America. He seems kind, considerate and sympathetic to his patients, especially to Ash in the first instance - but under that facade, it is clear that the good doctor has a lot more to hide than he lets on. He may seem docile, but he has a vile temper which he will utilise if he is pushed...so do not push him. His 'sponsors' are constantly breathing down his neck to demand satisfactory results - and so results he will get, even if it does involve a sacrifice for the Greater Good. Failure is *not* an option to him...
Appearance: Arc I (predominantly main antagonist) and Arc II (antagonist)
Personality: Intelligent, Logical, Gentlemanly, Considerate, 'Caring', Calculating, Manipulative, Wolf-in-sheep's-clothing, Dedicated and Goal-driven
Voice: Fairly mature, pitch being in the mid pitch range, speaking properly and with little slang and a gentlemanly etiquette (especially to the nurses). He may seem calm and focused, but when pushed he can yell, curse under his breath and lose his temper (Some Profanity Required.) His language can also be quite degrading at times towards his 'patients'. He has a slight German accent (this is optional, but bonus points if you can do one, we'd love to hear it! Even if it's just replaced 'w' with 'v' a few times :D)
As an idea for the type of voice we're looking for, listen to some of the voice clips from Professor Layton's Desmond Sycamore (but juuust a little lower in pitch) :)
(Soothing and friendly) There there, Ashley. I can only imagine how frightening this must be for you to have to go through, but I promise you that we will do everything we can to get you back on your feet. I know it is hard, but as long as we work together then everything will be fine. Do you understand, my boy?
(Initially surprised, then concerned) Ashley? What are you doing out of your room? It is very late, my boy. Far past your bedtime I imagine. You should not be wondering the corridors at night time. It makes the nurses' work far more difficult. ...Never mind, let us go back to your room now, this way. I can have the nurses prepare you a sedative if you had trouble sleeping...
(Explaining and lecturing, scientific) You do know what they say, Ashley - sharing is caring. See, you have a very valuable gift that could help so many people. It is quite selfish to keep that gift all to yourself. Your most recent test results appear to show increased concentrations of your essence proteins in your bloodstream after being directly exposed to a stressful trigger. ...That is unfortunate...but you do understand it is necessary, don't you? I do not want to hurt you any more than is necessary, my boy, so please cooperate and everything will run nice and smoothly.
(Aghast and angered, voice slightly lowered, becoming more raised near the second half) Listen to me, you impudent child, *I* am in charge here. *You* are my patient. If you want to get better, you have to do *exactly* as I say. Get that through your thick childish skull, or there will be trouble, *my* boy. There is...No. Escape. ... (Sigh, calming down a little) If you cannot use your mouth to say nice things, Ashley, then I see no need for you to be able to use it at all for the time being. Be a good boy and open wide.
(Barking out a laugh and reacting 'hurt') Oh my, you do hurt my feelings, Slade. After all the effort I went to in order to ensure you had a comfortable...accommodation...during your stay with us. It seems my act of kindness went unnoticed. Alas, perhaps I can help teach you some good twenty first century manners whilst you are here...
(A touch insane, ecstatic, with emphasis and laughter) There it is! There! The essence! Oh, how *beautiful* it is! See, Ashley! This! THIS is what all of this is for! A small sacrifice for the sake of the Greater Good! Ahahah~ How MARVELLOUS is it?!
Hi Birb! Thank you so much for your audition, it really means a lot to us! Firstly, I was very impressed with this. VERY impressed. The pacing, the emotion, the expressiveness and ESPECIALLY the insane and angered lines were spot on! They flowed so smoothly and it was really enjoyable to listen to. Totally got the spine tingling vibes. Wonderful work! Feedback for improvement, just a few small nit-picky things! The beginning and second lines should probably be spoken a little softer and warmer to convey that care, but only by a smidgen. If it is at all possible to replace 'w' with a 'v' then that would be absolutely awesome! Also, if you could, it would be really great to hear him with a bit of a higher pitch (since he's a little lower than what I was envisioning at the moment) with that 'gentleman' demeanour of someone you can trust. But besides that, it was a really great audition! Feel free to submit a second audition if you wish, there's plenty of time after all. Thank you so much again and have a great day! :D
Hey Birb, hope you're okay! I'm sorry you didn't make the final cut for Voss :( You were so close, but Travis just had the better intonation and accent which was better overall :( You gave it a really good shot and you succeeded in making me smile every day with the insanity lines so that was an achievement XD However, the team liked your voice a lot and we think you'd be great trying out for our supporting cast if you're interested, possibly one of our other antagonist characters- but of course it's all up to you :) The casting call won't be released for a good while, but you have a lot of talent and we'd love to have you! I hope you aren't too disappointed :( Good luck with any future auditions, don't give up take care of yourself! :D
