An elderly (mid 60’s) member of the town council with ulterior motives. Vicious, intelligent, pragmatic, but not entirely awful. Preferably with a raspy voice, but not a requirement. If chosen, you'll be given a bit more leeway of how to present this character than some of the others.
"My father was a benevolent man. Shame it never quite trickled down." [Casually asserting your dominance]
"If there's something there, we'll find it. I've got no other choices, and I've burned up my other chances." [Explaining why others should join your cause] "You know why I'm here, but for you... it's about the implications."
"I never could quit this these things. Maybe this is my way of making up for borrowed time." [You're musing about your long and checkered life of smoking]
