Marill is a Water and Fairy-type Pokémon (formerly pure Water-type). The fur on its body can repel water. Which shows that this Pokémon can stay dry, even when playing in the water. Marill's tail is filled with oil and floats on water. This prevents it from drowning. A pretty high voice would suit this Pokémon.
Azumarill is the evolved form of Marill. It has long ears that will give it the ability to hear movement very well and identify type of prey that lie around the area. This Pokémon can also spend all day in the water since it can hold a large amount of air inside. The only difference for Azumarill's voice compared to Marill is that its matured.
Marill: My tail can keep me above the water, so I don't drown.
You'll be able to find more Marill at the Great Marsh. Some will even hide in the mud there. I don't like the mud, though.
Azumarill: Now, what have you boys been up to? You're not gonna hide any secrets from me, are you?
I can hear everything that was said up there. I have excellent hearing all thanks to these long ears of mine.
