It's Tails, as we've come to expect him based on the modern games (but with some of the childishness of the old TV shows.) He's a genius child prodigy, and in this story he's left feeling vulnerable after the disappearance of Sonic. He forms an unlikely bond with an unusually kind Badnik, Coconuts, throwing his whole understanding of what it is he and Sonic are doing into question.
