The Fataly Furious Adventure 3 (Completed)
Yu-naru for Terry Bogard
The main protagonist of Fatal Fury and the older brother of Andy Bogard. He and Andy were orphaned as children. They were adopted by a man named Jeff Bogard, who was killed by Geese Howard, which immediately made him into Terry's mortal enemy, even more so after he killed his love interest Lily Maguire. Since then he had trained under Tung Fu Rue and as he grew up, he learned all he needed to know about street fighting to avenge his father and defeat Geese. Terry is friendly, outgoing, and charismatic, and a stereotypically All-American design through and through, at least in the original game series and movies.
In our dub, he's by and large still a lone wolf, although Lily survived since the events of the first Fatal Fury OVA was a dream and Andy ended up defeating Geese. He got depressed and became a lowlife drunkard in the second OVA, but that was also a dream. In this one, he pretty much goes his own way until he meets Sulia Gaudimus and is determined to protect her from her desperate brother Laocorn in his quest to become a God and get all the ladies. In his spare time he regularly plays arcade games and watches VHS tapes of old anime films. He also regularly thinks that his brother Andy Bogard is dead for some reason.
For his voice, a youthful, energetic voice would work best. If you need a basis or a frame of reference, here are your options:
Bootleg Megaboss from The Fatally Furious Adventure: https://youtu.be/2mRuovK6xuY?t=88
Eman Sdrawkcab from Fatal Fury 2: The Quick Battle: https://youtu.be/nFYGzoPy0Z4?t=48
Mark Hildreth from Fatal Fury: https://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/tv-shows/Fatal-Fury-Legend-of-the-Hungry-Wolf/Terry-Bogard/
Satoshi Hashimoto from KOF 2002 (mostly for battle grunts): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=am6G-xhisVg
I'm Terry Bogard, coolest cat in town! Let me show you how it's done!
I should've been the one to save you...
Whatever, I have things to do, places to be.
Rest well, brother! I'll make sure your death was not in vain! Are you OK? Buster Wolf! Power Wave! Burning Knuckle! (and some battle grunts)
The main problem is the lack of energy and unconvincing tone. It's OK if you're shy, you seem to be just starting out, but this should be the first thing you tackle. Don't be afraid to go over the top or come out as cheesy. It's better to overact than to deliver an underwhelming performance. The whisper screams, especially during Buster Wolf are another big issue and will definitely make it harder for you to be cast for any role. You don't necessarily need to scream your lungs out, but you'll need to put a lot more energy into this kind of stuff, especially for action roles. Unfortunatelly, I'm not only finding it quite difficult imagining Terry with this voice, I also find being cast for other roles with it quite doubtful. Voice Acting is tough and there is a lot to learn, but if you keep at it and adapt to feedback received (whether it's positive or negative), I'm sure you'll improve quickly. I wish you good luck in your journey.
I appreciate your enthusiasm for the role, but this isn't really what we're looking for, I'm sorry to say. It's too whispery and hushed to work, you'd definitely need to be much louder with much more confident delivery for it to be workable, and the microphone quality sounds rather poor. Investing in a home studio would work wonders, a soundproof booth would be the best, but if you're on a low budget even a USB mic would sound a lot better, I've even seen some cheap setups were people put blankets up around in their room, and it actually works surprisingly well for soundproofing.
