Head of the Trost Academy for the Gifted and the leader of the current Legion, Erwin Smith is regarded as one of the most influential and renowned Metas still living. He was born and raised in Trost City. His father was a schoolteacher and his mother was a baker,  and his childhood was normal. His father was a conspiracy theorist who saw corruption in the city and, because he was a Meta as well, tried to stop it. He died fighting one of the first TITAN hybrids (or something related to TITAN), and the case was never solved by the police. Erwin, wanting to follow in his father’s footsteps as well as get information that could solve the case, joined the Legion and quickly rose through the ranks. Erwin joined the Legion at a relatively young age, devoting himself to their cause at the age of 20. Twelve years later, at the age of 32, he became the leader of the Legion.
