Although she is having obvious trouble acclimating to "the new normal", the siblings' mother is accepting and encouraging when it comes to Charon/Cheryl's self-discovery and exploration of their feminine side. She is generally very warm, loving, and caring. A mature, mid-range voice would suit this character best.
Also, "Charon" is pronounced "Share-awn".
"Did you just pull a 'dad joke' on me?! Right now?!" (livid, in disbelief)
"No, I’m just…I’m just surprised and not sure how to feel about this. We’ve had Charon for 15 years, and I never knew that he might have wanted to be a girl." (confused, scared)
"Honey, I was listening. I’m not angry or upset at you. It’s just that I don’t fully understand this, and that makes me worried." (reassuring, on the verge of tears)
