Yamaoka is a butler working for the Nanjo family, but most notably the caretaker of Kei Nanjo. Since Kei's parents are often away on business, Yamaoka is the closest Kei has to a guardian figure. He acts much like the loyal butler archetype. think Alfred from Batman, although he can definitely be seen as a bit too overprotective in this case (Coming to the hospital to spy on Kei to make sure he's alright). During the events of the hospital, Yamaoka is killed trying to protect the people of the hospital and Kei by proxy.
Yamaoka is a loving, slightly clumsy old man, with very a modest, elegant presentation. His voice range is mid-to-high.
The hospital!? Heavens! I do hope you haven't hurt yourself, young master!
Yamaoka hears that Kei has been asked to go to the hospital, and being the worrisome old man he is, immediately fears for the worst. He asks Kei to make sure everything is alright, ready to offer to take him himself if need be.
Oh, my! Will you be going out on the town with your chums, young master?
Yamaoka knows Kei doesn't usually have much of a social life at school, so seeing him interact and hang out with his friends suddenly makes him really proud and relieved, happy that Kei has at least somewhat of a social life.
Oh, young master... Don't be so sad... It spoils your handsome face... You're a fine Japanese man... And a man must stand on his own someday...
Yamaoka lays on the floor, exhausted and ready to die after all he's done and seeing how Kei handled himself. He feels strangely at peace, due to his age and actions he knew this would happen eventually, his only worry in the world being Kei. With bated breath and exhaustion, he tries to encourage Kei to stand up straight and move on, believing in him until the end.
