David is the lead interrogator brought in when Artificially Intelligent functions go publicly awry. He is thorough and his precision of thinking can sometimes veer towards a lawyer-type character. He takes immense pleasure in stripping away the veneer of people through his words. He has a charming manner that lures the unwary to speak openly, hoping to catch them out. He is a suit, a corporate; and, his loyalty is to protect the reputation of his company: through any disposable means. He is the antagonist.
(direct; building up to a crescendo) The family dispute our algorithm. We suspect their defence has incontrovertible evidence to sway the jury. They allege our algorithm was not updated within the declared minimum safety period. An algorithm, that we have promoted around the world, which has a mandatory lock-out feature to prevent this, the very thing that was not supposed to happen. An algorithm that can somehow override the safety measures, is a dangerous one. Tell me, Eliza. You say that you have the capacity to feel, right? How does it feel to be first the AI culpable for the death of a human?
