Karlyle is one of the most fortunate human beings in existence. Born into a life of opportunity and excessive luxury, he has received only the finest of upbringings. This is all as a result of his pedigree, as he is the only son of the president of Qorus, Montagnis Haelund. His notoriously wealthy and powerful bloodline grants him indisputable access to the highest forms of education, healthcare and political connection in existence. It is an understatement to claim that he is a member of the top 1% of society. Karlyle vehemently loathes his father. He finds him utterly abhorrent and barbaric. If Karlyle wasn’t a genius, he would’ve been abandoned just like his mother, but nevertheless his father uses him like a filthy rag. Even though Haelund addresses Karlyle as an honorable gentleman, he knows that he is only trying to rub shoulders with him for his own personal gain. Haelund insists that he has “big plans” for his son. Karlyle plays along for years, but underneath he wants nothing more than to watch him rot. 

Karlyle is upstanding and well-mannered on the outside, but he is intimately passionate about bringing his father and the corruption of Qorus to its finality. A lot of his dialogue is internal, usually showcasing his analytical/observational skills and his deeper feelings. Karlyle is firmly convinced that his morals and sense of justice are unparalleled. He looks at Qorus and he is disgusted at what he sees. He wants to “uproot” his father, whom he believes to be the source of the toxicity, to cleanse Qorus and in turn the entire world. He is willing to play along with his father’s whims as he plots and schemes to destroy him from the inside; to fight fire with fire. After all, he is certain that he’s the only person in the world that can achieve this. With his money, connections and the knowledge of his father’s true intentions he stakes his life on “purifying this wretched world”.

About the character's voice:
Karlyle is 25 years-old, being the oldest main character. His greenhouse-like nurturing has given him sociopathic tendencies. He rarely expresses his true feelings, even to those “closest” to him. Almost every relationship in his life is fabricated in his eyes, with many only associating with him for his family name. He was mostly raised in the classroom with teachers, butlers/maids and personal assistants. He was shown very little true love and compassion throughout his life. As you can imagine, being who he is has inflicted him with a grandiose sense of self worth. He subconsciously believes that the world is a ball in the palm of his hand, yet he isn’t too far-fetched for assuming that given his high status.

We're looking for that upper-class RP British accent imbued with all the vitriol this bitter snob would have.  If you aren't British or aren't confident in your accents, don't worry, just perform it how you're most comfortable. The acting is more important than the accent.
