Hi, I'm Matthias from Germany and I'm 22 years old.
I
started acting in my early youth; in 2004 I played my first role (supporting)
in the Play "Ein großer Tag für Vater Martin" based on a story by
Leon Tolstoi.
In
the following years I played various roles (starring roles, supporting roles)
in different musicals, plays etc., sung in a youth choir, attended private
vocal training (pop, classical) until my puberty vocal change. After that,
nothing has been as ever before: My voice teacher predicted to me a bright
career as a recording artist, but my voice has become much deeper (I developed
a bass singing-voice) and so I wasn't able to sing normal pieces
properly.
I
than begun to use my speaking voice, worked as narrator in various local plays or as a moderaor and continued acting. Because of my typical speaking voice, I got often asked
to take roles even without applying for them and collected much valuable
experience.
I
started writing, wrote several German socially critical short stories and
got awarded four times with an award for teenage writers.
I
later used this talent at school to proofread essays, factual texts and do
commissioned work as ghost writer and helped people to find their weak points
in writing.
I
used my voice at German class to read out different school lectures and to show
my classmates in how to lay emotion in your voice, how to change roles, how to
feel into a piece and how reading and speaking speed is one of the most
important stylistic devices to get a message across to an audience. I spoke for a few commercials, made announcements at school and much more.
I was lead videographer and editor of a short-movie antology featuring about 20 people of cast and crew. This
challenging but also fun experience brought me to the conclusion that I want to
continue in that business, next to my studies of digital business economics.
Since
I graduated, I don’t have much possibilities to play or act, because of my
studies, I have to work and travel a lot. That’s why I signed up here, to look
for roles which I can also handle without travelling to auditions or rehearsals,
but by working from the place where I am right now. Furthermore, I want to
continue developing my speaking voice, to support small productions and collect
experience for the future.
