(From the Skullgirls Wiki)

"Ben Birdland, aka 'Big Band', is an observant detective who is committed to using his abilities to stop Skullgirls. When he was working as a police cop, he was one of the few (another being his former partner Irvin) who follows the rules and regulations while the others were corrupt. While he maintains himself to be calm and collected and prefers to talk things out, he will not hesitate to fight back when he has to. He is also fatherly towards the younger members of the Anti-Skullgirl Labs and shows consideration to others, such as Painwheel. Another example of his consideration is when he refused to kill Marie, who is carrying a part of the Medici Tower, under orders from Brain Drain since it will cause major damage to the area."

I need an African-American bass-baritone who is comfortable with jazz-style singing.

  • These days, I walk a different beat. The Skullgirls. They play by a whole different set of rules, and they'll keep on coming, until we put an end to the source of their power: the Skull Heart. That's my job. If I can do that, we don't have to worry -- for a while.

  • Big talk, but you ain't ready to walk that talk. We'll track her down and take her out together.

  • Sing the sample song found here (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1tIMhUXUufoFd7Lq13QXAyotXRBnQDc_CgVZdXAqs0E4/edit?usp=sharing)

Your singing is actually pretty good; the main thing you want to watch for is your intonation. I know that two weeks is fairly short-notice for audition turnaround time but some rehearsal could potentially help iron out anything that sounds pitchy. It helps to hear the pitch in your head first if there's a note that you're not sure of. But your sense of rhythm is excellent, and the tone you have in the dialogue is pretty close to what I imagined. Plus your vibrato on the melodic parts in the beginning is nice and smooth. Thank you!
