Hopeless Audiobook
Emmie525 for Madelyn Ross
(It's entirely possible I won't cast anyone who auditions for this role and end up doing it myself, so I'd advise you to also audition for another character too if you'd really like to be apart of this project.)
The main character of this thirty chapter shitpost. Whoever is cast as this role is in for a long ride. I am so sorry in advance. All narration, other than a few chapters, is from Maddie. You will need a large emotional range and to be able to do younger voices for her, so one for a 9/10yr old, a 13yr old and a 16/18yr old version as the story skips around a bit. You don't need to do all of the lines for all of the ages but please try to do at least one per age :)
Maddie is a princess from the kingdom of Saiton (pronounced kinda like sigh-ton) who grew up in the worst of situations, Maddie is difficult to read so I'm going try my best to describe her twenty thousand personality traits. So. Usually, Maddie is very upfront, very real but will still act like that brattish princess she grew up is. She'll tell it how it is, most likely in the nicest way possible regardless of how rude the statement actually is. However, she is nice, she is very caring, she just shows it in many strange ways. When going through trauma or anything intense, she tends to shut off. She'll shut everyone out and refuse to feel. She will not feel anything for days. This tends to dig her into a much worse hole. She gets angry easily and acts on impulse. All that lovely stuff.
Her voice is quite posh but toned down compared to her parents and other nobles. There's a bit of freedom with her voice so go ham :)
9 year old - “Come on! Your stories are getting repetitive again. And they’re always about this damn castle! At least tell me one of those stories!”
"Screw him! I hate him so much! I hate him!"
13 year old - “Are you trying to ask me if I killed my own sister?!”
“My sister and I were playing Kings and Queens. I heard shouting. The whiff of vodka, or some kind of alcohol, pierces the room. After footsteps approached the room, I blacked out. It wasn’t until I was breaking down in my closet that I actually woke up. I don’t remember anything between the footsteps and the closet. That is all I know.”
16 year old - “You either give me what I need, or I will not hesitate to tighten that vine.”
"Goddamn it, Sam! You can't just disappear, you lunatic! Help!"
“But I’ve only had three mental breakdowns this week. Less than the eleven I had last week.”
