Iji Family Can't Be Honest • Chapter 1
DanielleKogan for Haruko's Friend
Haruko's friend is trying to be supportive of Haruko.
(Concerned and trying to be helpful, talking to Haruko)
You really are a severe case of father-con. But didn't you say you lived separately for six years? And yet you're like this?(Energetically giving advice)
Your dad probably doesn't have any idea about that!! That's what idiot couples do!! Only at the start, too!!!(Quick burst - 120% energy without clipping)
YOUR FEELINGS ARE TOO MUCH!! DON'T DO THAT!!
Hi Danielle! Thanks for auditioning. I’m going to take that as “please give feedback.” Please forgive me if that was not your intention. —— 1. Let’s talk technicals first. This audition was recorded at a very low level. Generally speaking, you want the loudest parts of your voice (the peaks of your waveform) to hit around -6dbs. Depending on the energy of your delivery, you need to adjust the gain level. In this instance, the three audition lines needed to have three different gain settings. Experiment and try to find the gain level for every vocal energy you produce. Through experience, trial & error, and experimentation, you’ll eventually be able to put the dial at where it needs to be for any energy level. ——— 2. The delivery of the first audition line was extremely… staccato? As if you were separating out each.word.as.you.spoke.them. To me, it sounded like this: You really are. A severe case Of father-con. But. Didn’t. You say you lived Separately for six years? Try to smooth that out. In addition, I’m not quite hearing the changes in intent in the line. I was looking for a head-shaking disbelief about the realities of your hopeless friend, to a slightly accusatory confusion. —— 3. Same goes for YOUR DAD PROBABLY DOESN”T HAVE ANY IDEA ABOUT THAT. It feels staccato at unexpected places and its distracting from the performance. At the same time, the whole line needs more energy. Take a look at the manga *link above* and see the context of the scene for how much energy is needed here. — 4. Last audition line’s direction was “quick burst - 120% energy” - I meant a quickly-paced delivery at a high energy. I thought your delivery needed much more of both. In addition, these quick burst responses are a commonly-used narrative device used in anime and manga and they are delivered in a certain way: quick, intense, and bursting with energy. I’d highly suggest actively observing for these types of devices as you watch/read anime/manga, as it will help you with future auditions and roles of these types. — I hope these comments are helpful. Good luck!
I appreciate this very much!
