Ahh. Well, she IS a high school girl, after all. She's in her puberty, so I'm sure it's difficult for you.

  • (quick burst response)

EH!? BUT *YOU* SAID IT YOURSELF, CHIEF!

Thanks for auditioning! 1. Let’s start from your audio quality. Looking at your audition history, the other auditions had great audio levels. What happened here? Your level is way too low for the audition line 1, and barely enough for audition lines 2 and 3. It seems you know how to normalize the audio to a an appropriate level. —— 2. I’m going to agree with picturesqueoutlaw who gave you your first notes: enunciate, slow down, and get into character. The enunciation will come once you learn to be able to control the pace of your delivery. Anyone can say “speak slower” but it does take time and practice to be able to control your pacing so that it seems convincingly natural to the speaker. Please work on this aspect of your delivery some more. Once you slow down, enunciation will typically follow. ——— 3. In audition line 1, I would have liked to hear more empathy in your delivery. Right now, it sounds more like a statement rather than an empathetic “I understand your pain” that the context is suggesting in the manga. I don’t know how old you are, but you’ve had to express empathy before irl, right? To a family member, to a friend, etc. I need you to tap into that moment and recall how you said your words, then infuse that moment into your delivery in these lines. I hope this makes sense. ——— 4. In audition line 2, what I was looking for was SPEED and ENERGY. The direction says “quick burst response” - quick is fast, burst is energy. In addition, this rapid-response is a narrative device used often in manga and anime and there’s a certain and distinct way to deliver these lines. I suggest watching more anime and really actively observe for these kinds of devices. Being able to recognize these devices will improve your script analysis and allow you submit better auditions that stand out. The same can be applied to audition line 3. ——— 5. Lastly, go through the other auditions and listen and read. By hearing what other actors have done, and reading the comments I’ve left, you can ascertain a pretty clear idea of what I’m looking for. At this point in the game, with 54 other auditions in the list, you HAVE to be able to make your audition stand out. You do this by having the right voice for the right character, analyzing the script/manga to make sure the context is correct in which you delivery your lines, and by adding your own personality into the read that brings the truth of the character forward. — I hope these are helpful to you. Good luck!
