If cast, I’ll probably request a combination of those deliveries - I like the energy of one, casualness of the other, tone of another. One thing that was missing, I felt, was a sense of empathy. Even though I didn’t explicitly label it in my direction, examining the context where a subordinate is expressing concern for his boss would involve some level of empathy, I would think. Like, “Sorry, boss. I understand your situation and I feel for you.” ——— 2. Let’s talk about the “EH?!” What I was looking for a very specific “EH?!” used in the anime world often - you’ll often see this device being utilized both on manga and anime - and it sounds like you have an IDEA of what it should be, but the performance did not come out as such. The first take of the EH?! had the most amount of energy between the three, and even then I’d label it at a. I was looking for a 8 or a 9. There are a few videos out there that just shows “EH?!”s (lol) - take a look and see which one it is I’m looking for. —— 3. The directions had * * in EH?! BUT *YOU* SAID IT YOURSELF, CHIEF! I indicated this in hopes that the actors would accentuate that word. Depending on our intent, the way we place an emphasis in a given sentence changes, right? In this case, I was looking for a specific context of accusing the boss — YOU said it yourself, Chief! —— 4. Your energy gradually dropped from one take to another on “ARE YOU A LITTLE GIRL?!” If it was intentional to show your range of diverse energies you could showcase, that’s fine. However, the direction called for a “quick burst response” - this means I was looking for those lines to be read quickly, and in a bursting (one breath) way. And because this burst comes AFTER the “EH BUT YOU SAID IT YOURSELF CHIEF” line, this line must contain MORE energy than the previous one. I said I was looking for a 8 or a 9 in the previous line.
