Hi and thanks for auditioning! Since you asked, here are some feedback. ——— 1. I would look at the context of the scene a bit more closely. The “Ahh” is more of an “Ahh, I see” of understanding, rather than a sound one makes when one is unsure of something. —— 2. You have a really rich, deep voice. This is a great quality to have - it’s just not right for this character. You mentioned that you’re relatively new to voice acting. As you continue on your journey, you’ll start to notice a pattern - a pattern of the TYPES of characters that you book more than others. I bet you’ve already started to notice that you’re booking roles for big men, villains, royalty, and soldier-types of roles. I, too, have a deeper register to my voice - my voice has a different quality of depth to it that sways my roles more towards royalty and father-types of roles. Knowing what archetypes your voice will be suitable for is also a key information you can use in your future auditions. —— 3. The second part of the audition lines needs more energy. Directions given were “quick burst response” - this means it’s gotta be QUICK (say it in one breath) and BURSTING (energy). I would say the energy level of your line there is like a 3. I needed you to really let go and yell at a level 8 or 9, as quickly as possible. The same goes for the 3rd audition line. Need more energy. —— 4. Speaking of putting in more energy, you must adjust your gain so that you don’t clip the sound. Listen to the audio again - you’ll hear the places where there’s distortion in your audio in the loud parts. Ideally, the loudest parts of your audio waveform should be hitting just above -6dbs. Where to set the gain comes from experience - play with energetic scripts and quiet scripts and dial in the appropriate levels that’s suitable to your voice. —— I hope these comments are helpful to you. Good luck! :)
