Our Life: Steps 1 & 2 Roles

Age: 29-years-old (Step 1, his age is different in the other Steps)
Voice: Low pitch, warm, emotive
Cliff can be a difficult guy to like, but an even harder guy to hate. He’s personable, generous, and clearly seems to be trying. But he’s also impulsive, reckless, and socially awkward. Cliff’s got a real problem with being too friendly too quickly and struggles at assessing how he’s coming across to other people. Sometimes that causes Cliff to overly second guess himself, other times it makes him go all in with actions he really shouldn’t be doing. His absolute biggest priority is his son, Cove.
“Can you try to be friends with the boy? Just give it a chance and you can keep this!”
(Friendly, encouraging, the second sentence is more enthusiastic. He’s offering the MC $20 to befriend his son Cove.)
“Aha, sure, sure. Striving to improve is... good, too.”
(Awkward, uncomfortable, unsure, trying to sound friendly. The kids are complaining about not winning in a competition and he doesn’t know what to say about it.)
“That's where your friends were. You didn't have to be by yourself.”
(Softer spoken than usual, a bit despondent. Cove went off by himself and Cliff feels bad that his kid spent the activity all alone.)
