Cupid is the King of ValentinesVille, the world of ValentinesDay. He's a tall and buff man with a very outgoing personality, so outgoing in fact that some may think he's mad. This Cupid's appearance and family are based on the Greek-Roman version of him with a cartoon-ish stereotypical Frenchie mixed-in with it. Even though he's centuries and centuries-old, he still looks and sounds pretty good for his age! A strong set of wings and charm are what Cupid is best-known for; that and his unforgivable acts towards the town. Displaying himself as an extremely optimistic and love-able guy gave him a very thick wall of patience to break, but once it is broken then he will not hesitate to lash out in wrath. Angels and fairies used to look up to him as a great influence, but now all fear him and hide whenever he's around. Despite his clown-like attitude he is actually a very stressed man, understandably so. His family ( wife Psyche and daughter Pleasant ) are what keeps him distressed, knowing he has lost their love. He's extremely understanding and not the least bit judgmental on the outside only and everyone claims him to be manipulative. Oogie, the story's main villian manages to break him, fully showing the side that nobody likes of Cupid. When angered to a certain degree, as mentioned before, he will not hold back his anger. Whether it be by screaming, threatening and picking-on the little things, it can scare anybody; or at least change their view on him.
Despite his horrible past, he tries desperately to make himself a better angel throughout the story. He holds a heavy burden on himself for the things he's done and sees Lockjaw as a gateway to love once again, which is why he's so quick to try and convince Lockjaw that ValentinesVille is the happiest place in the world. However, he is quickly manipulated and forced by Oogie's shadow to relive the town's trauma and act out in villainous ways against his will. By the end of the story, he proves himself to be a new angel and finally regains the trust and love he desired so badly.
(Excited and charming) Ahhh! Monsieur, Lockjaw, oui? Com'ere, Cheri. (French cheek-greeting kisses) Mwah! Mwah! I shall call you... Monsieur Larue! Meaning: The red-haired one! Charming, non?
(Calmer but still bombastic and welcoming) Bienvenue to our petit village, ValentinesVille, your Spookiness.... Ho ho!
(Scared, angry) I shall do NO such thing, Monsieur "Oogie Boogie"! I have suffered enough throughout these past decades! I have lost EVERYTHING! Psyche no longer speaks to me, I have hurt and scarred multiple townsfolk and even have blood on my hands! Curse you in the name of Zeus you oblivious shadow-ey crétin!
(Loud and bombastic, slowly moving into deep and romantic) Oh ah ho ho hohoho! Non! Non! Ahhh, mon beau bébé baume au beurre~... You must be mistaken! That chubby old baby you suspected IS moi! From millennium's ago, mhm! Hoho! There are still babies here, but they are called: "Cherubs"... Speaking of which... You would look très attrayant in the diaper-sash look~...
