Thanks for the compliment and no it doesn't hurt. It can dry out your throat very very quickly so lots of water is necessary but it mostly feels like normal singing for me, it also occasionally tickles. However improper technique can cause pain and lots of irritation and over pro-longed time can lead to permanent damage to your vocal chords and false chords☺️ If you want to know more feel free to ask😄

Self taught however I now teach vocals on the side. My mum did teach me most of the non screamed basics and they led through to screams too. I do clean screaming too, I was brought up by an opera singer so if I didn't it would be odd😅

Being a metal vocalist is such a great skillset to have, especially for roles like this. Even though I'm submitting an audition for this role too, I hope you get it. I think your take on this character is just what the director is looking for.
