The rat of the Zodiac, Yuki first meets Noa when he is eight years old while having an asthma attack.  Noa takes him in and cares for him, knowing how to care for asthma as her son used to have it.  When she goes to hug him, she learns about the zodiac curse but promises not to tell anyone about it so that her memories will not be erased.

Two years later when Yuki is ten, Noa invites him to stay with her for a week away from the Sohmas.  It is then Yuki gets to experience family life for the first time.
