The son of the mayor, and the bully at school. Hector is a privileged child who constantly seeks the approval of his loving but ultimately uninvolved father. He listens to the rhetoric that his father must give the people in order to remain in power and internalizes it. As a result, it leads him to make many openly unkind and prejudiced remarks and actions that nearly lead to his father’s downfall and are not noticed by his father until the end of the plot. (For audition purposes, Hector is very snide, rude, pompous and entitled. He often says very rude and jarring things coupled with a combative attitude due to the fact that his is neglected by his successful father.)
