Role assigned to: thecelticphoenix

Budo is the leader of the Martial Arts Club, so you'll want to make his voice proud, strong, and just a little bit arrogant. He's a very small male role, but will appear whenever Yandere-chan first encounters the Martial Arts Club.

-Status2- Background Character

-Status3- High reputation, popular

  • You won't get away with this!

  • Welcome to the Martial Arts Club! What brings you here?

  • Haha! Another victory for Budo Masuta! Perhaps another time, Ayano-chan.

Okay, now I wish there was a button to retract an audition xD. You have bested me Mr. Martial Arts Sounding Expert. *bows*

Praise indeed, but being boisterous is just something that's comfortably in my wheelhouse. Your acting isn't bad, but I don't think your voice is really a match for the role. You seem to be pretty prolific though with your auditions. I take it you do what I do and just keep throwing darts at the wall until something sticks?

I guess that describes what I do pretty well hahaha. I check the daily emails from casting call and if I find a project that catches my fancy I just try all styles I think I might be able to pull off hahaha.

I do much the same; just trying to get my name out there and all that. Though I mean, a few pieces of advice; you need a better mic. There's too much background noise for the purposes of serious production. It sounds like you're not sitting all that close to the mic, which makes you sound weaker than you are. It also doesn't quite sound like your voice has come into it's own yet, which leads me to guess you're in your late teens? Correct me if I'm wrong, I'm only trying to offer helpful criticism to help you improve.

For the mic, my old headset fell apart a few months ago and I haven't decided on a new one yet. I've had rather bad experiences with headsets lasting half a year or so. I'm currently using my backup mic which is probably about ten or so years old already. It has it's issues but it's reliable enough for a backup. If you know of any good sturdy microphone or headsets for less than $100, preferably $50 please let me know. As for my voice, I'm not too sure how much it'll really change anymore. Don't worry about personal information being out there this much is what I give out when people ask on my livestream fairly regularly. I turn/ed 20 sometime this year.

Ah, well there's a big problem; headset mics are pretty low quality and aren't very good when it comes to voice work, even LPs (which you'd think they'd be suited for). Take it from my experience, a studio mic of some sort is much more reliable and it gives better quality. I had good results when I started out with a Samsung Meteor Mic, so I highly recommend that as a place holder until you can get a professional mic setup. Ah, 'bout what I expected. Your voice has a naturally cheerful lilt, so I'd suggest trying to find roles that are less serious in tone or character. You fit the archetype of 'Generic Harem Main Character' or 'Peppy, slightly annoying-but-well-meaning coworker', or other roles along those lines. If I were you, I'd start gearing your auditions towards that angle. I'm not saying you should give up on OTHER roles, but I'm saying those are the ones you seem most suited for. Back on the Undertale audition, you'd probably do better voicing Papyrus than you would auditioning for Sans, so I'd say give a crack at that. :)

Can you explain what you meant by 'Generic Harem Main Character"? I looked up what it meant but the definition is about women with a polygamous husband.

                thecelticphoenix

Ah, well, Harem Anime generally has an archetype of character that's easily and quickly relateable to the target audience (mainly, males, ages 13-25), who, in most cases, is sweet, caring, up beat and quirky. There's SOME variation in this area, such as Nisekoi which has a much more brusque protagonist on par with a typical shonen anime protagonist, but in general he's portrayed as a peackeeper of sorts who only likes to see the best in people. Your voice, thanks to it's lilt and what seems to be your natural exuberance, fits that archetype pretty well. But, again, that's only my two cents on the matter. I know it's not exactly couth to offer unsolicited advice, but I've seen your name pop up a lot the last few days, so I figured it'd be nice to begin working up a rapport with people around this site since I'm so new to it. ^_^

My name's been popping up? xD I just joinned Casting club a month or so ago to get voice actors for one of my projects, it wasn't until the past few days that I started auditioning. Also I'm always open to advice. If I wasn't open to it there would be little, if any, improvement on my part and my opinion is that if I don't improve I'm boring =p.

                    thecelticphoenix

Well, I mean, you and I seem to have auditioned for some similar projects. There's this one, of course, and the Undertale one, not to mention a few that I personally passed over since I didn't feel I would be the right fit. XD

I have a soft spot for Simpsons and Futurama, so that must be where the influence stems from XD

Well, I do agree that you sound like Budo, so congratulations on getting the part of him! We'll start recording lines within a week.

Excellent! I look forward to it! And thank you for this wonderful opportunity! :D
